The city welcomed 29 million tourism visits in 2017
The group offers up to £20,000 in grants to promote business tourism to the UK
In 2014, London welcomed a record-breaking 17.4 million international visitors, according to the Office for National Statistics’ International Passenger Survey (IPS). The survey shows a 3.5% increase in business and leisure stays from the previous year, where there were 16.8 million visitors. The number of visitors for business purposes reached 3.3 million. The recent surge of tourism has been beneficial to a number of businesses as visitors are spending more in the capital’s restaurants, hotels and attractions than ever before.
Failte Ireland has secured four international conferences worth almost €2m to the Irish economy through its Conference Ambassador Scheme. The news comes as it is revealed that the tourism board is targeting an 8% growth in revenue in 2015 to €61.5m.
