How the hospitality industry can get back on track in 2021

The Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International (HSMAI)  suggests the 10 next steps for getting the hospitality business back on track in 2021.

More than 300 international brand leaders in the European hospitality industry were given valuable insights on how to proactively prepare for and roll-out their business recovery in 2021 and beyond when they attended the HSMAI Europe Day 2021. This included the HSMAI Revenue Optimisation Conference (ROC) Europe  and  Chief Officers Roundtable (COR) Day 2021 last week.

FIEXPO moves in behind ICCA Congress in Cartagena in October

The management of the FIEXPO Latin America meetings industry show, in conjunction with the Colombian authorities, has announced a decision to move the event from June to new dates straight after the planned International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) Congress in Cartagena in October.

FIEXPO will now run 27-30 October, 2021, following the ICCA Congress (24-27 October), at Las Americas Convention Center in the Colombian coastal city.

Cartagena will, for one week, host two of the industry’s most important global events.

WTTC opposes travel quarantine, calls for balance between health and economic priorities

The World Travel & Tourism Council (WTTC) has responded to the UK government’s focus on 10-day quarantines for travellers from ‘high risk’ countries, saying it will cause “enormous damage” to the travel and tourism sector.

Gloria Guevara (pictured), WTTC president & CEO, said: “WTTC is implacably opposed to quarantines as, while protecting the public is paramount, there needs to be a balance struck between health and economic priorities.

INVNT appoints new executive creative director for EMEA

International branding agency INVNT has appointed Neil Mason to the role of executive creative director, EMEA. The appointment follows Claudia Stephenson becoming managing director in September 2020.

Mason (pictured) brings more than 20 years’ experience to his new role. Based in London, Mason joins from Identity Group where he was executive creative director. He has also held senior creative positions at agencies including George P. Johnson and Jack Morton Worldwide. He will report into Stephenson, and his first day is 5 January 2021.
