Eddie the Eagle drops into ESSA anniversary conference

More than 170 delegates attended the Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) 10th Anniversary Conference and Snow Ball at the Ricoh Arena, Coventry, 7 December. Samantha Fenlon of Freeman won the Young Person Award, Aztec Event Services win Member Company Award, and the Outstanding Contribution to the Industry Award was won by Chris Criscione, managing director of Equinox Design. The conference proceedings began with an introduction from Andrew Harrison, ESSA director.

Association UK Congress: in pictures

The Association of Association Executives (AAE) welcomed delegates to Manchester Central for its annual Associations UK Congress on 14 December. It is the first time the event has taken place in the city. Around 257 association professionals came together for the two-day congress, which concludes 15 December. Delegates were greeted with a reception hosted by Manchester Convention Bureau at The Lowry in Salford Quays. Read the full story here.  

ABPCO chairmen's lunch and Excellence Awards: in pictures

The Association of British Professional Conference Organisers (ABPCO) celebrated its 30th Anniversary on 8 December with its largest ever chairmen’s lunch and Excellence Awards. The event was held at Harrogate Convention Centre. More than 100 ABPCO members came together to celebrate not just 30 years of ABPCO but also this year’s Excellence Awards Winners, which were selected via a live vote following presentations from the shortlisted entries.

ACC Liverpool brings the party to London

ACC Liverpool welcomed a record number of guests to its annual Showcase in London. During the evening at The May Fair hotel, the venue unveiled Liverpool’s ambitious and forward-looking culture programme to mark the 10th anniversary of the city’s year as European Capital of Culture. Guests were given a sneak preview of the final plans being put in place for the year-long celebration of the city’s thriving creative scene which will include China’s First Emperor and the Terracotta Warriors; the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta and the finale of the Clipper Around the World Yacht Race. 201

TRO helps pour the pints

Pravha has enlisted experience agency TRO to deliver a tactical on-trade campaign, which comprises bar staff training and in outlet consumer engagement. The extensive programme sees a dedicated team of influencers visit key on-trade outlets across the UK, and has been devised to build buzz and awareness around the product within outlets. As part of the session with each outlet, the influencer also interacts with consumers, offering free samples of Pravha and a game entitled #PraguePrices, whereby they have a chance to win a pint of Pravha for just 70p – the average price of a pint in Prague.
