Switzerland launches summer tourism campaign at Glaziers Hall
Switzerland Tourism officially unveiled its summer campaign to the UK travel market on 13 March, with a media launch event at London’s Glaziers Hall.
The tourist board, in partnership with Lake Geneva Region, welcomed more than 40 travel and lifestyle journalists to the London Bridge venue, for an evening of Swiss-inspired food, drink and entertainment to introduce the new summer campaign.
Held in Glaziers Hall’s underground events space, the London Bridge Arches, journalists were welcomed with Swiss wine (a nod to the upcoming ‘Fête des Vignerons’ winemakers festival in Vevey) and hot and cold canapés, including Sbrinz cheese baskets with asparagus and bratwurst with ‘mustard tomy senf’ dip.
To introduce the theme of the new summer campaign, journalists were divided into three teams for a game of ‘Hike-Around’, based on the 80s tv show Runaround. The game saw everyone up on their feet, voting on the correct answers to questions by choosing one of three of Switzerland’s most famous hiking routes, Via Alpina, the Jura Crest Trail and the Alpine Passes Trail. Stones were collected for every correct answer, and the team who could build the biggest cairn (little stone man) at the end were named the winners.
After working up an appetite, guests were treated to more classic Swiss cuisine with bowl food including hot fillet de perche, lemon chive sauce and spinach, and saucisson Vaudois, leek and crushed potatoes, with all catering provided by Mosimann’s.
Event organiser Sara Roloff, head of media and communications UK & Ireland for Switzerland Tourism, said: “For our summer launch we were looking for a venue that would work well with the Fête des Vignerons wine theme – Glaziers Hall’s London Bridge Arches was the perfect space, with its wine cellars and exposed brickwork, and having previously hosted the House of Switzerland there during the London 2012 Olympics we were excited to be able to come back.
“The Glaziers Hall team have been really helpful in planning the event, and it was great having the flexibility to arrange bespoke catering to fit the theme of the launch. Having looked around all of Glaziers Hall’s other event spaces, including the rooms overlooking the river, I hope we will be able to return again in the future for another event.”
