Stress Matters named as B Corporation

Workplace wellbeing organisation Stress Matters has announced its certification as a B Corporation.

The B Corp certification addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas: governance, workers, community, environment and customers.

During the certification process, applicants are required to reach a benchmark score of over 80. Applicants also need to provide evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency.

Additionally, to complete the certification, the company has to legally embed its commitment to purpose beyond profit in its company articles. Stress Matters completed this certification process in eight months.

Commenting on the certification, Laura Capell-Abra, founder of Stress Matters, said: “We are incredibly proud of this certification as it publicly recognises our long standing commitment to improve the lives of employees everywhere in a tangible and impact-driven way.

“We have always driven home the organising principle of making workplace wellbeing easy. It shouldn’t be a chore and it shouldn’t be ignored. As a business that does impact the health of an individual, I’ve always wanted us to achieve official recognition of organisations such as Mental Health First Aid England, the International Stress Management Association and now I’m pleased that we can add B Lab to this too."

Chris Turner, executive director of B Lab UK, added: “Welcoming Stress Matters is an exciting moment because they have an opportunity to lead the way within the workplace wellbeing industry. We and the rest of the B Corp community are really pleased to support Stress Matters in paving the way for a new way of doing things.”
