Saints go marching out of the Swansea Marriott

Southampton all but saved their Premiership status in South Wales earlier this week, despite perceived problems with their Swansea Marriott Hotel.

The club left a scathing one-star Trip Advisor review after the key trip to Swansea for the relegation decider with Swansea City FC at the Liberty Stadium was thrown into chaos when the hotel booking was cancelled by the Marriott Hotel the day before the proposed stay.

The hotel, according to Southampton FC, cited a virus as the reason for the cancellation, but the club claimed other guests’ stays we not affected.

Saints manager Mark Hughes was angry that the club were then forced to stay in Cardiff instead ahead of preparations for last Tuesday night’s decisive match.

The Saints certainly had the last laugh, winning the relegation decider 1-0 at the Liberty stadium.

The one-star TripAdvisor review posted read: ‘Last minute cancellation’. Had been due to stay here for an extremely important business trip, only to have our reservation cancelled 24 hours before arrival, due to an apparent virus outbreak. Very disappointing, as other guests’ bookings seemed to be unaffected. The inconvenience meant we had to make alternative arrangements for our group at short notice. Ended up switching to the Vale Resort. Not an ideal location for our needs – much longer trip to get to our meeting – but great staff and facilities there and would highly recommend. Fortunately, the experience didn’t sour our trip. Business meeting was extremely productive! Not planning to return any time soon.'
