New events industry sustainability accreditation launches
Swindon-based venue finding and event management agency, Venues and Events International, is supporting business sustainability with the assistance of Greengage Travel & Event Solutions.
Greengage Travel & Event Solutions' ECOsmart accreditation is given to agents, hotels, conference venues and agencies that can demonstrate an environmentally conscious approach.
“We have more than 30 years of working experience, and sustainability has always been such an important subject for our business, and for our clients events,” said Anita Lowe, CEO of Venues and Events International. “We are concerned about the future of our planet, so we incorporate the green thinking principle into everything we do.’
Venues and Events International began an ECOsmart audit to determine what sustainable measures the agency already had in place and what improvements could be made.
Kim Cavilla (left), chief operating officer, said: “As a business, we have a Sustainability Committee dedicated to promoting green initiatives both internally and to our clients. We run regular sustainability awareness training sessions for our team to ensure that our client's events are as sustainable as possible.
“Choosing the right venue that prioritises sustainable food and beverage procurement, such as local organic suppliers, while also providing good public transport access, is already making a big difference for our planet.”
The agency has been sharing its plans with its clients, providing them with a plethora of brilliant ideas for planning more eco-friendly meetings and events.
In June 2021, Venues and Events International has been officially awarded the Greengage ECOsmart accreditation following the successful ECOsmart audit and a full sustainability report.
