Michael Hirst OBE steps down from consultancy role after 21 years

Michael Hirst OBE will complete his consultancy role with CBRE’s Hotels team on 2 October, after 21 years with the company.

Hirst joined Insignia Hotel Partners in December 1999, the forerunner to CBRE Hotels, after having been chairman and chief executive of Hilton International. It was a unique opportunity to utilise his hotel experience and extensive contacts to grow Insignia's and later CBRE’s hotel and leisure client base.

Hirst remains chairman of the Government’s Events Industry Board, responsible for growing the UK’s business events sector and is on the Boards of the European hostel company Safestay and CP Holdings, a diversified industrial services and international hotel and thermal spa operator. He will continue to provide independent advice to companies investing and operating in the international hotel industry.

Hirst said: “It’s been a fascinating journey to have been with CBRE over the past 21 years and help its hotel business develop to become the world leading hotel expert in providing unrivalled advice. I intend to remain very much in touch with the industry and continue to give advice where it is needed”.
