MEETinLEEDS hosts Digital Summer School for academics

MEETinLEEDS, the conference facilities of the University of Leeds, welcomed academics to the city for its health IT leadership event, Digital Summer School.

The conferences saw 450 delegates attend from all over the world, to discuss the future direction of NHS IT, as well as provide networking opportunities for the sector.

The event took place from 18-19 July, and offered a variety of workshops, plenary sessions, site visits and masterclasses. It also saw the Digital Health Awards taking place.

A variety of international and national keynote speakers attended, including CIO of Beth Israel Medical School, Dr John Halamka, who spoke on the emerging challenges in digitising healthcare.

CEO of South West Yorkshire Partnership NHSFT, Rob Webster, also presented a session on ‘leading digital to create integrated health and care in Yorkshire’, amongst others.

Harriet Boatwright, sales and marketing manager at MEETinLEEDS, commented: “We’re delighted that the conference will be returning to Leeds for its second time, and understand the importance of the event for the city and the University.

“The Digital Summer School provides a great opportunity to showcase everything that both the city and University have to offer, and we’ve really enjoyed working on such an important conference.”
