International Confex sees 11% growth
International Confex has exceeded its financial target for the second year in succession, with 2020’s event demonstrating 11% growth on the previous year. 2019 saw 21% growth on 2018.
More than 8,000 event professionals are expected to attend the event, which runs at its new home, ExCeL London, 25-26 February 2020.
Several high-profile events businesses make up the 300-strong exhibitor list, including The British Museum, Nobu Hotels, Compass Group UK & Ireland, Eikon Exhibition Centre, and Searcys Group.
The 5,000-capacity ICC Wales has also confirmed it will be present in 2020. It is the venue’s first major UK exhibition since opening in September 2019, where it will exhibit on Stand AVG24 in the Association Village Green area.
Danielle Bounds, sales director, ICC Wales, said: “As the first major venue of its size in Wales and the west of the UK, it is a real game-changer for business events and we look forward to introducing many more members of the events industry to our amazing facilities at International Confex later this month.”
International Confex’s exhibition director, Duncan Custerson, attributes the growth of the show to “hard graft and developments based on exhibitor and visitor feedback.”
He says: “Consultative sales is fundamental to our approach. Dedicated account management from 2019 has helped us to really look after our exhibitors, and to give them room to concentrate on creative stands and pre-show marketing through multiple channels.
“The growth of the show over the last two years underlines the broader appeal and value of live events. As brands of all sizes continue to realise the power of live events, it is more important than ever for event professionals to ensure they expand both their knowledge and networks. Our industry is based on face-to-face interactions, so it stands to reason that more and more people are attending International Confex.”
Custerson reaffirms that content is king, and that prospective visitors should check out the content programme, which includes a presentation from digital business solutions provider Moxtra and a live interview with Figen Murray, who is campaigning for the implementation of Martyn’s Law, which calls for greater security at events.
After outgrowing Olympia London (pictured), the event moves to ExCeL London from 2020. On taking the event to the other side of the capital, Custerson says it offers scope for expansion and creative development. He adds: “We simply ran out of space at Olympia. The move to ExCeL has allowed us to create a number of new pavilion concepts, which offer exhibitors a hassle-free way to participate with a pre-built stand in a dedicated zone or pavilion. The team there have been fantastic partners and are helping us to grow the event.
“As we all know, the events industry relies on collaboration between partners, and I’m really excited about the direction in which we are heading.”
New additions in 2020 include the Associations Village Green, Exclusively London, Hotel Pavilion, Beyond London Pavilion and Northern Venue Pavilion.
