EIB Talent Taskforce launches skills gap survey

Phase two of the Events Industry Board (EIB) Talent Taskforce’s online research will assess the cost to businesses across the events sector of managing skills gaps.

An initial online survey was launched in August - to gather responses from events business employers about how the sector attracts, develops and retains its talent. This was part of a package of qualitative and quantitative research undertaken in collaboration with the key trade associations representing the exhibitions sector, business and corporate, and major international events.

Sarah Wright, chair of the EIB Talent Taskforce said: “Our first survey has produced an abundance of rich data revealing the skills gaps in the industry.   We now want to drill down to discover how those gaps translate into revenue lost while employers are filling job vacancies and training new recruits to be fully-skilled in their new roles.”

Employers across the live events industry are being asked to complete the survey, which is anonymous, by 5pm, 14 December.

Information gathered from this follow-up research will form part of the report and recommendations to the EIB to be launched in March 2019.
