Cardiff to host international language summit
Cardiff is to host the 2018 Language Industry Summit, the flagship annual conference and event organised by the Association of Translation Companies (ATC).
The ATC is the world’s longest established professional association and is a voice for companies operating in the UK’s language services industry now estimated to employ 12,000 people.
Over 130 language industry professionals from across Europe are expected to gather at the Hilton Hotel in Cardiff city centre, 20-22 September, to discuss the pressing issues of the day affecting their industry, which will have grossed more than £1.15bn in the UK last year.
The Summit theme is: ‘Technology: Latest innovations; the drive for 2020 and beyond’.
An opening evening reception sponsored by Barclays will take place in Cardiff Castle and there will be a Gala Dinner and Awards Evening with entertainment in the Hilton Hotel on the Thursday night.
Ruth Partington (pictured), chair of the ATC Organising Committee, said: “We’re looking forward to holding this year’s Summit in Cardiff, which I know will be a fantastic and welcoming venue. Both Cardiff Castle and the nearby Hilton Hotel should provide perfect settings for our delegates to make the most of the Summit’s networking opportunities.”
Having been formed in 1976 by a group of translation companies in Britain, the ATC has expanded significantly over the last 40 years and now has members from all over the world.
