Event Agency of the Year winners Smyle has secured a place on The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 and has recruited a new CEO and group finance director.

Smyle says its exports have more than doubled in the last two years, sealing their place at No. 54 on The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200. The high-profile list ranks Britain’s mid-market private companies with the fastest-growing international sales.

The accolade follows the agency’s entry on The Sunday Times Virgin Atlantic Fast Track 100 at No. 66, published on 2 December 2018 and their 2018 Agency of the Year win at the EVCOM Awards.

To support growth, Smyle has recruited a new CEO, Keith O’Loughlin (left), who stepped down as Group CEO of TRO in 2017 having globalised that agency and has a pedigree in agency consulting.

Keith will lead agency Smyle Creative, guided by co-founder Rick Stainton who becomes group executive director overseeing the wider Smyle Group’s growth, focusing on acquisitions, strategic partnerships and client development.

David Dewhurst (right), previously financial director at Next Fifteen Communications, has also joined Smyle in the same role.

Stainton commented: “2018 was an incredible year for us, and this latest accolade in The Sunday Times HSBC International Track 200 demonstrates our broadening international delivery and more global client relationships.

“We need the best talent with exceptional experience to continue to develop our business and realise our potential, hence I am so excited to announce Keith and David as a very significant boost to our leadership team. This now allows me more time to evolve my role in executing the wider Group’s strategy, which I have been wanting to dedicate more focus on for some time.”

O’Loughlin added: “It is a privilege to be called upon to lead Smyle through the next chapter of growth, building on the firm foundation of industry leading talent, in an environment that knows the power of great ideas with a world-class client roster and a rich trophy cabinet of awards.  We live in a fast-changing world in which it is imperative that agencies adapt to be relevant to meet client needs now and in the future – it is an exciting time for all of us at Smyle and the Group.”
