Nexus Collections, known for creating the first environmentally friendly conference bag, will be increasing its focus on sustainability under the management of new owner Howard Lawton.

Howard Lawton bought Nexus Collections from founders Nick and Gill Jones in the final quarter of 2018. With extensive experience as an importer and exporter, Lawton brings significant technical and business knowledge to the Shrewsbury based business.

Lawton, who now serves as managing director and owner, commented: “This is an exciting time for Nexus. It is a vital part of both the local community and wider business events sector and I am looking forward to building on those relationships.

“As well as developing and refining our range of sustainable conference bags, we are currently examining each and every product in the Nexus catalogue – from pens and lanyards to USB drives and bags – to see what positive changes can be made.

“We are committed to helping our clients reduce single use plastics through sustainable sourcing and supply as well as providing fair trade options and other avenues to improve sustainability at events.”

Nick and Gill Jones have been retained as non-executive directors of Nexus Collection. Based in Hong Kong, they are close to Nexus’ manufacturing base and able to continue adding significant value to the business through their historic knowledge and expertise.

Lawton added: “Nexus Collections was started as a family company and that is what it will continue to be. Nick and Gill ran an incredibly successful business and put together a team of experts who are dedicated and focused on delivering the best possible products and services to our clients – I look forward to continuing that style of management.

“It is great to be working with a small, dynamic team with a buzz and a desire to succeed in an industry that is all about people and face to face communication.”
