Neptunus has been commissioned to supply a dual-purpose temporary structure to Trinity College in Oxford, which will be in place for three years.

The space will allow students to study while a major building programme is undertaken at the College. It will serve as a library and multi-functional reading room for the first two years.

In its third year, it will be transformed into a kitchen, dining room and senior common room. The temporary structure will incorporate toilets, offices and auxiliary spaces.

April Trasler, managing director of Neptunus, commented: “We are delighted to have been selected to provide temporary facilities for such a high-profile institution while their long-term building programme is carried out.

“Trinity College were particularly impressed by the flexibility our multi-functional temporary structure technology and our ability to build it quickly and on a confined footprint.”

A six-strong crew of Neptunus technicians will take just two weeks to erect the 500 square metre Flexolution II temporary building.

A further five weeks will be required for the internal fit-out including Stud walls, suspended ceiling, flooring, plumbing, electrics, air-conditioning, heating and fire alarm systems. The facility is scheduled to be ready for use in May.

Justin Folliard, College surveyor, says: “Our temporary building needed to accommodate a number of different uses across the whole project scheme – what we liked most was the flexibility that Neptunus’s solution provided us with for the duration of the project.”
