MEET South West 2020

MEET South West welcomed 350 event industry professionals to its event at the Mercure Bristol Grand, which took place on 31 January.

Event professionals described the event as an opportunity to learn, discover venues, suppliers and event agencies as well as making new connections and networking.

Now in its second year, registrations proved to be 31% higher than last year and over 60 companies attended the exhibition.

The programme included industry experts running practical workshops and presentations. With the UK events industry worth an estimated £40b, keeping up to date and being able to demonstrate the value of events is essential.

The sessions included ‘Top trends for 2020 (event tech and industry wide)’, ‘How to deliver sustainable events’, ‘Using events as a marketing tool’, ‘Strategies for remaining calm when under pressure’, ‘Marketing your event online and offline with LinkedIn’, ‘Engaging your stakeholders to drive event registrations’ and ‘How to engage and secure event sponsors.’

MEET South West also showcased entertainment to encourage further conversations and highlight the talent available in the region to enhance events.

The show partners included Meet Bristol, Visit Bath, VisitWiltshire the Event Organisers Network, Mercure Hoteles, Evans Audio Visual, Floating Harbour Films, Event Reference, EventsCase, Glisser, Colour Studios, Jon Craig Photography, Conference News, Bristol/Bath/Swindon Business News, Trevor George Entertainment, GWR and Bristol Airport.

Amy Bramhall, manager, Meet Bristol Convention Bureau, said: “MEET South West is a perfect example of achieving success through collaboration. The event brought together top event professionals and suppliers throughout the region to facilitate networking and knowledge exchange.”

Thomas Heiser, co-founder of MEET South West, commented: “Now in its second year, the show has evolved. We listened to our delegates from last year, offering a show with more diverse content and exhibitors."

Heiser continued: "The venue and supplier ratio at the exhibition was equally split, as was representation from Destination Marketing Organisations (DMO) within the South West. This gave the delegates the opportunity to discover the fantastic MICE offering we have across the region.”
