Edinburgh’s landmark venue The Hub experienced a record year in 2018, with an increase in revenue of around 20%.
As a popular location for corporate events, conferences and weddings, The Hub has seen total sales of almost £1,000,000, with the venue’s busiest ever month in May and another record-breaking month forecast for November 2018.
Success for the business has come on the back of a new business model of hiring the whole building, including the café, for larger events. The Hub has seen significant hires in recent years, including general manager Fi Morley; head of hospitality Martin Burns; and business development consultant, Colin Horsburgh.
Morley commented: “Like many other venues in Edinburgh, we have had a strong 2018, with two record-breaking months and a strong beginning to 2019 already in prospect. The flexibility of our venue, plus service standards, reputation and repeat business, all have a part to play in our business growth.”
Figures for 2018 saw The Hub generate £929,000 of sales against £777,000 in 2017 with sales for November 2018 forecast at almost £250,000.
