It's only a gameshow...
Do you reckon you’d have the skills to beat the Banker on Deal or No Deal? Would you be any good at The Price is Right? The Generation Game? OK, but what if you had to play them back-to-back? And how about if, in between games, you were having quick-fire questions and tasks thrown at you while you and your teammates raced around the City of London, Challenge Anneka-style? (Minus the helicopter.) Still think you’d come out on top?
Well, that was the challenge put to a group of top booking agents at the recent London City Selection fam trip. LCS’s annual fam trip has become a hugely anticipated event, not only for the booking agents who take part, but for the dozens of venue, hotel and supplier members who play a part in putting on the weekend extravaganza. This year, entitled The Greatest Gameshow, the event was the consortium’s biggest and best yet, hosting 18 buyers – with a combined spending power of around £4.2m. Eight-member venues opened their doors on 23 March to entertain LCS’s guests during the day and 27 members exhibited at the lively exhibition held at the Postal Museum the night before.
“Every year we’re delighted with the huge effort our members and guests put into the LCS fam trip,” says Paul Martins, LCS chair. “The activities coordinators, hotels, caterers, drivers, venues, suppliers, photographer… it’s a huge event to put on and we couldn’t have done it without the support of every single person involved.”
“At the heart of the fam trip, engaging business opportunities are the true purpose of the LCS,” Martins continues. “That’s about putting our members in front of quality buyers and to help promote the City of London as an event destination.”
