ESSA AGM: in pictures
The Event Supplier and Services Association (ESSA) welcomed more than 100 people from 60 of its member companies to its AGM on Thursday 26 May, 2018 at the Magic Circle Headquarters in Euston London.
During the AGM, four board members were elected unopposed to the association's governing body, Dan Edwards of Mash Media, Mark Clayton of Inevexco, Steve Comar of Freeman Company (UK) and Nick Marshall of GES.
Chris Criscione of Equinox Design gave the chair's address, taking a fond look back at the events of the last 12 months, and reflecting on the association having reached its 10th birthday.
In their respective addresses to the meeting ESSA director Andrew Harrison and Treasurer John Robson, MD of Aztec Event Services, reported an association on a firm financial footing despite expenditure on anniversary celebrations. Harrison reflected on the cross-association work over the last 12 months and brought delegates up to date on ESSA's education initiatives and recruitment campaign.
Closing the AGM's official proceedings, Harrison thanked the board and secretariat for their tireless work delivering services and benefits to members. He then introduced Henry Herbert, a data protection consultant from Herbert & Ball, as the first of two guest speakers.
Harrison appeared satisfied with the day's proceedings, remarking, “All our official business was conducted without a hitch and with a reasonably good turnout. We were able to demonstrate a productive 12 months of delivering existing member benefits and services, creating new ones, holding popular events and ensuring the association is in good financial shape. And as a bonus, both the excellent presentations couldn't have been more relevant or timely to our industry, with GDPR almost upon us, and Brexit lurking in the wings.”
