The Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons (ALSGBI) has announced that it has established itself as the main voice for laparoscopic surgeons in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

ConferenceLeeds assisted ALSGBI with its venue finding. ALSGBI’s ‘Annual Scientific Meeting’ took place at The Royal Armouries, whilst its reception dinner and drinks were held at Harvey Nichols in the Leeds City Centre.

The ALSGBI returned to Leeds for its ‘Annual Scientific Meeting’, which hosted 250 international delegates from across the UK and Europe. The three-day conference aimed to promote teaching and training in robotic and laparoscopic surgery.

The conference provided delegates with an opportunity to observe a live surgery which was performed by surgeons from St James’s and Leeds General Infirmary.

This was followed by a contemporary industry exhibition, training sessions and industry-relevant lectures which debated new technology such as robotic and technology enhanced surgery.

Jenny Traglohan, executive director of ALSGBI, commented: “It was so exciting bringing the Association of Laparoscopic Surgeons Conference back to Leeds. The city’s prominent healthcare sector made it easy to choose it as our final destination.

Traglohan continued: “The key element of the conference was to inspire those working within laparoscopy through extensive training sessions, most notably our live surgery which had to be the highlight of the conference. What’s more, the Royal Armouries was the perfect venue to welcome delegates from across the globe as it’s such a unique backdrop.”
