Venues of Excellence Annual Conference urges members to #GoPerform
Independent venue consortium, Venues of Excellence, hosted its annual conference focusing on the theme ‘Go Perform’.
The event, which took place at Imago Venues at Loughborough University, featured keynote speeches from Olympic skier Graham Bell as well as John Steele – director of sport at Loughborough University and Elizabeth Stokoe – professor of social interaction at Loughborough University.
Attendees also took part in interactive workshops focusing on topics including how to work through economic uncertainty, delivered by Adam Rowledge of Rowledge Associates; how sustainable food supply and workplace wellbeing strategies can be applied to enhance the sector; and how marketing campaigns can boost how customers see venues.
The full day event also marked the launch of Venues of Excellence’s five Quality Pledges – a set of pledges venues will now be asked to adhere to in order to maintain their consortium accreditation.
Mandy Jennings, executive director of Venues of Excellence, said: “Our annual conference brings together our 52 member venues for a chance to reflect on the past year and look ahead to how we as a consortium can excel in the industry and set the bar high for excellence.
“Our keynote speakers provided plenty of inspiration for this by sharing their own experiences of achieving brilliant performances in their fields, and the interactive workshops gave venues the chance to get their heads together and motivate one and other. We can’t wait to see what great results our venues get over the next 12 months by embodying our five quality pledges and embarking on their missions to go perform.”
