Mongolian circus comes to town
For a second year running Sorcha Productions organised a showcase in aid the Mongolian street kids’ circus.
This year’s event took place at the City Summer House in London which was kindly donated by Awesome Events, and features entertainers including the Mighty Moustache (from BGT), comedy juggling gangster, Pemberton & Hague, and Mongolian throat singer and the morin khuur virtuoso (otherwise known as the ‘horsehead fiddle’ – a Mongolian bowed stringed instrument).
The special guest star was Silvia Pavone, hula hooper extraordinaire, a regular on the London cabaret stage.
Director, Sorcha Rogers, visited the Mongolian street kids’s circus last year when she was scouting for talent. She tells CN: “It doesn’t only provide a safe haven for vulnerable children but also give a space for them to learn and develop circus skills.
“This year we had a vintage circus theme with a more immersive style with lots more to see and do. The event industry community came together to enjoy the night, watch a fantastic show featuring top London cabaret stars while knowing they were helping young people find a better life through circus. A big thank you to all involved as they donated their time and talent for free.”
Nearly £700 for the street kids circus was raised and Rogers adds: “The Mongolian Street Children's Circus wants to build a bright future for these kids and we believe that our support can make a huge difference.”
