Gareth Rogers, CEO, Farnborough International, details the innovations taking place at the Farnborough International Airshow.

With a history spanning more than 70 years, the Farnborough International Airshow (FIA) has established itself as a world-renowned event and the most important airshow within the aerospace and defence industry. Farnborough International is evolving the legacy of FIA through the launch of a new conference, the Aerospace Global Forum (AGF).

For decades, Farnborough International Airshow has been at the forefront of the aerospace and defence industries, providing unrivalled opportunities to connect, collaborate, share insight and do business on a global scale.

Following the opening of our state-of-the-art exhibition and conference centre in 2018, we have had the opportunity to widen our event organiser portfolio and develop industry-leading events for the aerospace and commercial transport industries, including Sustainable Skies World Summit, Space-Comm Expo and ITT Hub.

Since the revival of the industry following the pandemic, we have seen a demand to develop a diverse platform that hosts future-altering discussions, while enabling our audience to reach business objectives and drive actionable change, strengthening the legacy of the Farnborough International Airshow.

Aerospace Global Forum

This strategy has led us to develop, curate and launch the Aerospace Global Forum. Taking place in tandem with the airshow, 18-22 July 2022. The AGF will be a global platform that aims to champion change and drive immediate action, accelerating transition to the new, net-zero economy. It will achieve this by bringing global leaders together, across all industries, sectors, and geographies, to interrogate issues and implement initiatives and drive positive global changes through an aerospace lens.

Climate change is the largest challenge to affect the world, and the AGF provides the aerospace industry with a platform to react to it and collaborate, with the support of governments, academics, regulators and innovators. Open to leaders from the aerospace, technology, finance and energy sectors, governments, climate consultancies, start-ups and OEMs, AGF will provide a diverse five-dayprogrammeofinspiring thought leaders and impactful discussions.

To create an immersive experience, the AGF will take place in one of our 2,043sqm on-site sound stages, which is primarily used by Hollywood blockbuster production companies for filming. The AGF will be located among Farnborough International Airshow exhibition halls connecting with visitors and exhibitors, enhancing the show and connecting global leaders from wider transformative sectors. The sound stage is set to provide a fully thematic brand experience through a bespoke conference set-up, unique networking areas and an innovative ‘look up, look down’ concept.

The AGF is not just a five-day platform. The thought leadership programme has been designed to drive change beyond July 2022 and create a springboard for a suite of spin-off forums and conferences in aviation communities around the world, throughout the year. Working with like-minded accredited partners, the programme has been developed to produce actionable outcomes and strategies that will hold leading industry organisations to account in their progress moving forward.
