Prime minister confirms timetable for events will be released next week

The prime minister Boris Johnson has said, 3 July, that the Government will set out a timetable for getting events “Covid-secure as possible” next week.

Asked by David Mann, a production manager from Milton Keynes, about the effect of Covid-19 restrictions on the events industry in the Downing Street press conference, the prime minister admitted it had been an “incredibly tough time”.

He added that he understands people working in it are anxious to know when measures can be eased.

He repeated that a timetable will be set out next week and the Government will do “everything we reasonably can” to support the arts and events in the meantime.

The Government released the Meeting Industry Association’s (mia) official guidance for conference and meetings venues on 24 June, while the All Secure Standard guidance for exhibitions and trade-shows, as well as the guidance for outdoor events, is still in the Cabinet Office awaiting approval.
