How venues use technology: survey being launched this week
The results of a new industry survey looking into how venues utilise technology will be released this week.
The survey, conducted by venue specialist Londonlaunch and sponsored by NFS Technology Group, was issued to some 500 UK venues and hotels, asking them to fill in a questionnaire covering a range of topics like technology use and reporting needs. This was followed up by in-depth interviews with several willing respondents.
The survey, seen exclusively by CN, asked many leading venues and hospitality businesses about the technology they were using to support the management of their operations.
The headline finding reveals that just under half (44.7%) of businesses used a venue management system,53.2% more are using a sales/CRM system, but that 49% said they were less than happy with the technology they were using.
Luis De Souza, CEO, NFS Technology Group, said: “We were delighted to sponsor the Londonlaunch venues survey because as venue technology providers we are always interested in gaining an even deeper insight into what the industry really needs.
“It’s clear from the findings that many venues do not have the technology solutions and tools for venue management they need or desire to have.
“Many are relying on a mish-mash of technologies that fail to provide the level of support that an advanced and integrated management system can provide.
“In today’s challenging trading climate, this is a concern. This is a profitable sector of UK hospitality market – but to stay that way, it needs and deserves more flexible and responsive technology.
“The survey has provided valuable data on current thinking and requirements that will inform our continuing software development.”
“Our Rendezvous Events venue management system is evolving constantly, and we will go on seeking important input from venue owners and managers to make sure they get the technology they need and deserve.”
CN will be exploring the findings in greater detail over the coming weeks.
